Shadow Sea by Ataraxic Ataxia
Ataraxic Ataxia’s first full length plots a course across a landscape of noise and drone touching bases with many niches in the genre, and flirting with some other less obvious glitchy aesthetics.
It begins delicately enough as the sound of a childs toy slowly warps it’s way into something monsterous and hazy. The warning shot is fired, and Shadow Sea bends it’s way through live twisting sounds that nod towards a more sinister and rhythmic Rapoon or fuzzed out Basinski. Static and roaring noise sing harmony to caterwauling mangled samples. Passages veer into something almost industrial as they wind their way back towards the nightmare strings of the finale.
Shadow Sea is the soundtrack to a world on fire, mankind’s last transmissions garbled into a ghostly howl.
